Wii

Mariokart Wii is awesome. Buy it now! It’s great fun! The wheel is a really funky addition to the controller, which, whilst not doing anything, does everything :D

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz would probably be equally fun, if I could control it at all. But I can pretty much make the monkey go off the edge, or roll around until I run out of time.

Sonic and the lost rings (or something) falls pretty much neatly between the two.

Also the Wii is quite disturbing when the blue light flashes on and off.

Random

We dotted off into town today (in the shiny new car) and had Chinese at the recently raided Jumbo Chinese restaurant The prices have increased very slightly since the raid, related? Who knows? Still very nice though, which is what counts really. Then we just went for a random drive around, checking out Thoresby Market (it was closing, so we didn’t stay) and an antiques shop we happened across on the way (didn’t buy anything.)

The 118 drives quite nicely. It’s very different to the Vectra, obviously. With the runflats you can feel bumps in the road, but anyone who claims the ride to be firm has never ridden in a “sports-suspension” Vectra, which is something akin to a rigid-body ;) The 1er has it just about right in my opinion. It’s been snowy these past few days, so no photos at the moment. Still getting used to the gears and the idea of having the engine automatically turn itself off whilst we stop. It’s quite bizarre, but at the same time satisfying because you’re not wasting fuel and whatnot.

Meanwhile back at home we have been playing Wii Big Brain Academy, to expand our brains. I don’t know if it is working :D

Back again

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

So I am back.  I’ve been in Center Parcs Sherwood for the past week.  It was mostly good, with my main gripes being over the ridiculously small second rooms they have, and the general shabiness of some of the place. We did a fair few activities, including Archery (quite fun), Sherwood Banquet (fun since we dressed up and got really into it), swimming and stuff.  Packed loads into Saturday when Mr Bobs was around.

Also played on the Wii a fair bit.  And then, due to my extreme lack of willpower, went and bought one on Monday.  It’s a lot of fun. :D

Last night our cats broke out of the cat flap (as in, they literally broke it by forcing the plastic flap past the “lock”).  Of course that left them stuck outside, in the rain.  So I opened the door up this morning to three very wet looking cats.  Naughty things they are.

Today at work they announced that another load of people will be made redundant.  Bit rubbish. Apparently I and most of my immediate co-workers are not in scope, but some people are.

Finally, in random news, volunteers are being searched for for a 17 month experiment to judge how people might deal with a journey to Mars [news.bbc.co.uk].  Sign up now folk!

Kerplunk

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Yesterday I got Kerplunk from Toys R Us. So there will be many hours of moving sticks and dropping balls. ooer.

Big Brother has started again on TV. There has already been another racial incident, and a contestant walked out today. Typical fare then really.

The Church of England is angry [news.bbc.co.uk] because Manchester Cathedral was used in a PlayStation game without permission. Shocking.

I was in Wales [visitwales.co.uk] last week. Fairly enjoyable. Drunkenness and game-playing abounded. Also played on a Wii [wii.com], which was fun. You can create little people in the designer that you then use in some of the games. Dunno if it has lastability though.

And that, as they say, is that. I’m off to Center Parcs Sherwood next week, which should be interesting.

Wii comes to UK shops

Sunday, December 10th, 2006

Aye. It looks like I’ve not updated in here for quite a while. As it goes, time files doesn’t it? It’s almost the end of another year. They are choosing the BBC Sports personality of the year just now on TV.

Here’s a random photo of Missy and Charlie, so that this isn’t a text only entry -

Missy and Charlie

Apart from the appearance of the Wii [news.bbc.co.uk] in the stores in the UK, there’s not a lot of front page goings-on that I feel like commenting on, so I won’t.

In our news, it’s drawing closer to Christmas, so that means that we need to get the house in order for when Laura’s family arrives. They are staying here for Christmas. It also means that I need to finish getting some presents, and the neighbours decorate their houses with ever-more insanely bright sets of lurid decorations.
