Snow. Lots of.

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

So we’ve started the new year with a big freeze. The whole country has been enveloped in snow for quite a while. This led to this amazing image of frozen Britain being released by NASA. Looks pretty end-of-the-world-ish. We’ve had a slight thaw today, though more snow is promised to be on the way.

To try to make the most of it, we stuck our newly-acquired walking gear on and headed off to Fountains Abbey. It looks great in the snowy conditions and is great to walk around, providing you are suitably equipped of course, I wouldn’t fancy it in a pair of trainers. ;)

Of course I grabbed a few shots. Here’s just one of them -

Prayer nurse allowed back to work

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Following up from the other day, the nurse who was suspended for offering to pray for a patient has been allowed to return to work.  About time, really.  I don’t really understand how it took them the best part of two months to come to that decision.

It’s the end of a fairly crazy week weather-wise, and sadly that doesn’t show much sign of changing.  In other crazy, BBC News aired the unedited version of Christian Bale’s F-word rant this morning.  It was actually entertaining to watch as the chap had just said “sensitive viewers may want to cover their ears”.  Boy did he not know how right he was though as they launched straight into Bale swearing like a good-un.  Cue looks of horror from the presenters.  Oops.

Oh, and Clarkson.  Heh.

Snow

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Today was a day of snow. It snowed more in the South-East than it has in the past fifteen years or something. It even caused plane missing runway madness as the pilot of a Cyprus Airways jet could not see the markings on the road and overshot the tarmac.

So that this entry is not devoid of pictorial imagery – which is always needed for a snow day I think – here’s a message on my car.
