I read just now that Starbucks Coffee have removed their name from their branding logo. This is a move designed to position them to sell stuff other than coffee under their brand, but I must admit it seems odd to me. When we see their shops with this nameless logo how are we to refer to them? Do we now say “I’m just popping to wobbly green lady logo for a coffee”? Sure, you want to diverge, lose “coffee” from the name.

An important security update has been released for WordPress. If you run WordPress, it’s advised to update now. The release addresses some issues in the KSES library, which is used for santization throughout the product. As usual, the update can be downloaded from the WordPress site, or you can use the automatic updates from your blog’s Dashboard “Updates” menu.

So the other week we had some snow. In fact, we had a lot of snow. More snow than I can remember for 20 odd years anyway. Everywhere was pretty white. Indeed, pretty, and white. The snow was probably 2 feet deep in places.

It’s heading off now, but was pretty intense for a few days.
I should have posted this the other week, but the 14th November saw the final race of this year’s F1 seaon – in Abu Dhabi – and a newly-crowned World Champion in Sebastian Vettel. I admit, I would have preferred to see Webber take the title this year (he finished on 242 points compared to Vettel’s 256) but what did please me was seeing Alonso frustrated in his attempts to win by a mighty defensive drive from Petrov, which left him unable to climb higher than 7th – simply not enough. Alonso, in my opinion, did not deserve the championship this season after the debacle with team orders.
So, instead, in Vettel we have yet another youngest ever champion, and – I expect – probably the first of many. He was tipped by many pundits to be on the way, and got there sooner than some might have thought. The win also ensured Red Bull took both trophies this season.
A short break now, and then the season restarts around March next year.
