This seems a bit wrong

For certain jobs in the UK – working with children, etc. – it’s a legal requirement these days to undergo a disclosure, where details of your criminal history are revealed by the police to your intended employer. For a subset of those, you have to undergo an enhanced disclosure. It seems, though, that these enhanced disclosure forms include even completely unsubstantiated allegations that may have been made against you at any point, by anyone, without any level of proof.

This is very disturbing. This sort of ruling opens the door to wide-scale abuse of the disclosure system by, essentially, anyone with a grudge against someone who they know would have to undertake them. Simply making a groundless allegation will cause a blemish to appear on the ED, which is given weight of truth purely by being printed on the paper. With no context, of course.

Very wrong.
