Legoland

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Yesterday (well, technically the day before), we went here -

Legoland

A storyboard of the day can be seen in the gallery. We thought it was great! We travelled to Windsor the night before and stayed over, so that we could get an early start - which was really worthwhile as the park is very big! There’s a lot to see, and quite a few rides. Mainly though, my reason for going was to see the LEGO, and they have that in abundance. The miniland is astounding. I would recommend the place to any LEGO fans or anyone with kids around 7, because the LEGO is great for LEGO fans, and the rides will tire the kids out easily. :D Check the photos to see some of the detailed buildings - the displays of London and other places were great. Plus you can walk around and imagine that you are a giant.

Holy smoke!

A Venezuelan zookeeper was killed after letting a 10 foot python he was supervising at the zoo out of its cage.

Meanwhile, police in Canada have arrested a man in Toronto who had stolen almost 3000 bikes.

And, oh, yes, cows point north.

Happiness is..

Mostly found in Denmark.

So now you know where to go :)

Oh yes. Kaboom!

Out with a bang

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Well, it’s not quite over yet, but the Chinese Olympic games has had some drama in the Taekwondo arena today. First off Sarah Stevenson was controversially judged to have lost her fight against China’s Chen Zhong, who she had very clearly defeated with a last minute head kick, then - almost as unbelievably - that poor decision was overturned, giving Sarah just minutes to prepare for another bout. She went on to win Bronze in a tough setup.

Then, later, in an unconnected match, this happens. I wonder at what point he decided that kicking the ref was the best way to proceed?

An active world

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

It’s been a fairly active world this week. The Olympics continue to roll along - with the British team doing their best for a million years or so, and elsewhere there have been tragic happenings and strange events.

In our own little world, our side gate has finally been fitted. It has taken months, when it was expected to take weeks, but it’s there and I have to admit it looks pretty good. It’s a quality gate. Oh, and this weekend sees the end of an era as the Tinsley viaduct cooling towers finally come down. Sadly at 3am I think I will be asleep rather than freezing my ass off on a platform waiting for them to push the button, but no doubt there might be a slight rumble.
