Fax Power

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Good gosh. It’s taken a very long time and lots of phone calls to get a fax from one place to another to sort out our mortgage application. It was finally finished off today, so we are now at the point of not being able to actually do anything more ourselves in this whole house-moving process. The new house is, apparently, complete now – though we were inside it yesterday and some bits inside were not of the “complete” nature. Possibly their definition differs from ours. Anyway it’s pretty much just waiting now.

This weekend I intend not to do very much, so that probably means that we’ll end up doing loads. heh.

Hope all you guys and girls are well!

So here we are

Another week gone by. The house stuff seems to be not moving that quickly, but still managing to consume every hour of the day with stuff. Next week the surveryor comes to see this house. Hopefully nothing is falling off! It should be fine though I think. This week the cats all had to go to the vets. We made the mistake of bringing the boxes in on the day they had to go, so Charlie was off upstairs like a shot. We got Missy and Suzy last night and Charlie today. Laura got scratched.

In the news lots of silly people queued up to withdraw their savings from Northern Rock building society, proving that really, some news just shouldn’t be released to the masses, as hundreds took the sign that they were borrowing from the Bank of England to mean that the society was about to go belly up, despite every news article about it saying they weren’t.

Also the FIA took a massive hump at McLaren over some “secrets” to do with Ferrari. Obviously with Ferrari as the victim, the FIA went overboard and imposed a massive fine and constructor’s points hit. Somehow you get the impression it wouldn’t have been the same the other way around.

And finally, a hedgehog survived being washed at 40degrees in a pile of washing. I quite like hedgehogs.

The weekend’s handywork

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

This last weekend I spent laying a lawn. It is not a difficult task, but it is hard work digging over the whole garden and hefting turf around. You can see the results of my weekend of garden work in the gallery. I hope it actually grows so someone can appreciate it all.

Good news though, for Imperialists (and common sense), the EU has completely abandoned plans to turn the UK metric. This would have meant the change of all our road signs, and insane criminal charges for shopkeepers and stallholders who dared to take that horrific step of displaying weights in pounds and ounces.

Housey Housey

Apologies for my lack of presence here, which is due to our house move taking up all my available energy. Normal service should resume soon. And if not, normal service should resume shortly after we move. ooer!

Ooer, well today we put a reservation down on this house -

New House

And with a little luck we should be moving in after it is finished, some time in October.
