Since I was last updating on here, what’s taken place. Well, after the attack on glasgow airport, the government increased the terror threat level, then decreased it again. It seems to have mostly been doctors involved in the plot, many of whom had previously worked for our good old NHS.
Meanwhile, in Sydney, Australia, a man went on a joyride in an APC and caused a load of mess.
Locally, the Sheffield area has been given 600000 pounds of government cash to help with the flood repairs.
In our news, we finally went to the cinema last week - first time in a while, we are really not making enough use of our UGC Unlimited cards. Sorry, Cineworld unlimited cards as they would be now. Anyway, we saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End which we both thought was pretty good - I prefered the level of pirating in this film to the last one, and felt that the whole thing was generally more exciting and better than number 2. A good end to the trilogy. This week we may get to see the latest Harry Potter film if I can stop getting called from work for long enough to go. !
And, of course, last weekend saw both the finish of the Wimbledon championships for this year - with Federer gaining a fifth title in a row in a great match against Nadal and a Brit bringing in a first place for a change - and the British Grand Prix. High hopes were out there that Lewis Hamilton might win the Brit GP, but he did not. He did, though bring in 3rd place and yet another podium finish in his debut season, which is quite remarkable. Of course, something is always out there to put a stop to this sort of thing, so Hamilton’s placing is in doubt thanks to a row about corporate spying.
Now, I’m all for making sure that everything is fair play, but to me it seems massively unfair that Hamilton personally should pay a price for what other people in the team may or may not have done. If there is team implication, then deduct points from the team’s constructor standings, but to hit Hamilton with a points fine would seem to me to be a bit out of order. In fact, it would look very much like a conspiracy to ensure that a rookie doesn’t grab the drivers’ championship in his first season.
