Mr Mist’s Blog

It’s very sensible

Lemsip? Only if you have a prescription.

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Story on BBC News [news.bbc.co.uk].

Because some people use the ingredients in some common cold remedies available now over the counter, the latest in “let’s ban it” style ideas being floated is to make these medicines prescription only.

To me this is an insane proposal that would adversly affect loads of people for little or no benefit. Restriciting such commonly-used medicines would impose massive loads of work on Doctors and Hospitals, and discourage the general populous from using them, which could lead to poorer health in general, seeing as they would normally be a “front line” defence. That’s not even considering the bung the government would get from prescription charges.

Sigh.

Cheap Plastic Stuff Returns

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Here we go then, the return as promised of Cheap Plastic Stuff to my blog. This week’s cheap plastic stuff is a puzzle block set. You can read about it, see it, and find out my rating for this item by clicking here. Is it good? Is it bad? Find out for yourself!

In other news today, some people are moaning that blogs should present codes of conduct [news.bbc.co.uk] to cover things such as hurtful / illegal anonymous comments, and uncensored content. Wow. Whatever happened to exercising common sense? Personally if someone posts an off-hand comment on here that I don’t like, I’ll delete it. OOo OOO Censorship I hear some pathetic whiney idiots clammer. Yes, damn right, because it’s my blog and I will choose what goes on it and what doesn’t. If you don’t like that, well, you’re free to go away and create your own website, aren’t you?

Today I went off to the opticians and had my eyes re-checked for the second time. That makes three times at vision express and once elsewhere. This time the results in the chair were pretty good, so we shall wait and see what lenses I get out of it I guess. Should be fun! (Hope they can get it right this time though.)

And that’s today’s stuff, as I am fairly tired now and need to go off to bed.

wow

Wow. It’s taken a bit longer than I expected to apply the new style across 30 different Cheap Plastic Stuff back entries. Mainly because I didn’t realise that I’d need to do that. ha. Still, that is done now, and, I think, in honour of that, I shall be producing a new cheap plastic item entry tomorrow! That’s right, it’s back baby!

Apparently Leeds University scientists have discovered the secret to a perfect bacon sandwich [news.bbc.co.uk]. It involves grilling for 7 minutes at 240 degrees, and then putting it in farmhouse bread.

Personally I’m not sure about that. I think possibly the finest bacon sandwiches were made by me, this morning, by grilling the bacon in our grill on the grill setting and placing it between two slices of bread with some egg. Yum.

So yes. New Cheap Plastic Stuff due here shortly! (It would be today but I can’t find what I was about to put there.)

Changes are afoot

Monday, April 9th, 2007

I have been neglecting this place lately, so time for a quick refresh to it I think, so that is mostly what I will be working on today. Expect to see a few little differences, and - who knows - maybe even an entry or two!
