Mr Mist’s Blog

It’s very sensible

Movement

A couple of things.

Thanks to the register, I had my attention drawn to this column about myspace (and online / real life in general) [www.securityfocus.com]. It’s an interesting read, looking at some of the cases that have been brough to the media’s attention that revolve around myspace and it’s affect in the real world. (For example, where people have met other people after meeting on myspace, and things have gone wrong.)

The article makes some good points about levels of responsibility. Most of the events are entirely beyond the control of myspace (or whatever), and yet, when things like this happen, the public / media are so quick to blame “the internet”, as if “the internet” is some kind of evil-doing entity. This annoys me no end, because it’s yet another example of pushing responsibility for your own actions / your kids’ actions / actions in general, onto someone or something else.

Anything not to have to take responsibility for your own actions, eh?

And with that, let’s look at something that does require responsibility, knocking a building down. I took a few snaps of one of the old tower blocks being pulled down near Sheffield station. I was shooting through a grate, so there was a deep shadow across the left side. In the gallery there’s a couple of my attempts to fix it. :)
