This week’s Photo Friday challenge [www.photofriday.com] is Vanity [www.photofriday.com].

For this one, I decided to use an older shot. This is one from Lake Windermere taken whilst we were on Honeymoon. The swan decided to pose for the camera for a second.

More than just humans can be vain

Hi folk.. This week’s Photo Friday challenge [www.photofriday.com] is Pink [www.photofriday.com].

For this one, I had a few ideas, i wanted to experiement with setting off the white balance towards pink, I fancied a quick photo of something with a bit of pink in, and a something else. Then I noticed that we don’t have that much pink stuff around the house. Hmm.

So here we go, as usual, you can click the image to see a larger version (I’ve only uploaded mid-sized ones this time, not the originals).

Here we have a picture of a flower, taken using a custom white balance set from a pink bag. I thought it looked pretty good. ( EOS 20D, 1/8 sec, F5.6, iso 400 )

This one was the fluffy thing. The cat was essentially an accident, as she decided to lie there once I had the picture set up, so I thought, she’s not pink, but what the hell? ( 1/15 sec, F4.5, iso 800 )

This last one was a complete experiment, bit of zoom blur, fairly good effect. Eeyore qualifies as pink by virtue of the scarf. ( 1/3 sec, F5, iso 200 )

In an interesting case of karmic alignment, a mouse burned down a man’s house after he threw it onto a fire [news.bbc.co.uk]. The man survived, but the blaze that the charred mouse brought back into the house gutted it completely.

That’ll teach him to try and toast things.
