Pope John Paul II passes on

The main story of the weekend is the passing of Pope John Paul II, pope since 1978 he has been one of the longer serving popes. Mourners gather to honour the pope [news.bbc.co.uk] and here we can see some of them in pictures [news.bbc.co.uk].

Here we can see a short obituary of the Pope [news.bbc.co.uk], at 58 he was the youngest pope for around a century, and had a strenuous time of it, even being shot twice in 1981. He was the first non-italian pope in over 450 years, and, in my opinion, a good example of sticking strongly to beliefs – whether or not you agreed with them.

What happens next? [news.bbc.co.uk].
