And the winner is…
I didn’t quite get around to updating yesterday, so I shall make a quick note of the Oscar winners today. The Brits did not do all that well in the Oscars, bringing in, well, not much at all really [news.bbc.co.uk]. Instead, the night pretty much belonged to Clint Eastwood, keeping Scorsese out of the Director’s oscar for another year [news.bbc.co.uk].
Elsewhere, news starts to filter through from the Jackson trial [news.bbc.co.uk], no doubt the start of many such things. After the first day, the defence retort was essentially to claim that the family bringing the allegations against Jackson are gold-digging, and that Jackson is the victim here. Months of this to come I think.
After the Tsunami, some survivors have taken up new jobs, making goods for sale on Ebay [news.bbc.co.uk].. People around the world can then buy their goods. This is better for the locals than charity, because they feel as though they are doing things for their money, and they get more than they normally would for the things that they make.
Rules for mobile ring tone sellers [news.bbc.co.uk] mean that sellers of tones can be cut off if they do not adhere to proper standards, such as allowing people to stop the text services and such. Why anyone would subscribe in the first place to these things that are absolutely prohibitive in cost sometimes I do not know. But at least this goes some way.
Not quite a burning plane, but almost [news.bbc.co.uk] a fire being discovered whilst the plane was on the ground. eek.
