Photo Friday : Rural

Sunday, February 20th, 2005

This week’s photo is an old photo of mine of The Doone Valley in Exmoor, scanned in on the Epson 4870 Photo Scanner, at fairly default settings if I remember rightly.

Doone Valley in 1988, scanned in, small version (43K) click for full sized version (368K 1734*1164)

As usual, you click on the image above for the full-sized version. :)

Situation!

Friday, February 18th, 2005

Hi Folk!

So, what’s the situation.. Here’s a summary (as much for me to remember as for everyone else)

  • Problems with hosting (storable/perl issues) - Still being looked at.
  • mt-blacklist [www.jayallen.org] installed and mostly working but for storable issues.
  • Comments - mostly working. I occasionally do not get notifications.
  • Comment registration - working but you get redirected to the wrong page then have to click comments again *and* refresh to get to the posting bit if you want to sign in with typekey. Hopefully will be able to sort this.
  • Comment subscription - not installed yet. I will try this again if my host can sort the perl things out, or maybe if they don’t.

We are going to see Laura’s grandparent’s tomorrow so that will be an event :D

The main news items of the day is of 350 products being taken off the shelves in supermarkets because they contain a dye with an ingrediant that is linked to increased risk of cancer [news.bbc.co.uk]. There is a “very low risk”. Most of the foodstuffs are ready meals and similar. If you are wanting to see the full list, then it is available in PDF format from the BBC website here [news.bbc.co.uk].

Shifted

Thursday, February 17th, 2005

Hello again! I am mostly shifted now over to the fresh install of Movabletype. I’ll see if this makes things any better. Please stay with me whilst I fix all my templates and such to make bits work properly again. Also the links to some older articles are now broken, which is a tad pesky!

faff

Wednesday, February 16th, 2005

I’m having a right pain of a time attempting to get comment subscription working for my lovely readers whilst keeping in place blacklists and whatnot.

Let’s just say it would probably be easier if I understood exactly what was going on, right now it is probably easier to move over to something like Wordpress [wordpress.org] where I can get plugins that actually work alongside each other instead of competing.

The Kyoto accord starts today [news.bbc.co.uk] many years after its drafting, still without the US.
