Earthquake

Thursday, December 30th, 2004

The number of victims from the Asian Earthquake and Tsunami disaster is rising every day [news.bbc.co.uk]. It is quite unfathomable the level of devastation.

A note

Yes, a note to anyone who thinks it is a good idea to spam my comments system on here with adverts for their silly online gambling sites. Well, if you are prepared to pay me 1000 uk pounds a month for advertising then feel free to continue leaving comments on this site. If you continue to leave comments, you are accepting that you will pay me 1000 uk pounds each month for every comment that you leave here that mentions your casino.

My Top Few Films This Year

Monday, December 6th, 2004

I’ve seen a fair few films this year. So many, it was pretty hard to put together even a shorlist.

I’ve created the following list of films that make the top 10 -

Lost In Translation
The Station Agent
50 First Dates
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Troy
The Day After Tomorrow
The Incredibles
I, Robot
The Terminal
Bride & Prejudice

And four more that get an “honourable mention”

Kill Bill Vol 2
Shark Tale
Big Fish
Harry Potter

I find it very difficult to come up with a top five though, and especially a top one.

What films did you rate this year?

Film Review – Sky Captain and the World Of Tomorrow

Thursday, October 7th, 2004

I liked this film. It was entertaining and the effects were very impressive. Considering this was shot almost entirely in blue-screen, it was difficult in many places to tell where the animation replaced reality. The comic-book style of the graphics helped this along, I’m sure, but still, pretty good.

It has its amusing and its corny moments, and enough of a plot to see the film through to the end. To me, this film seems like a prime canditate for converstion to a video game, and, indeed, if you go to www.skycaptain.com [www.skycaptain.com] then there is a downloadable game there (though I’m surprised there is no full priced release version.)…

Worth a look, if only for the ooos and ahhs at the crunchy special effects.
