Mr Mist’s Blog

It’s very sensible

Hmm

Sunday, November 17th, 2002

I found a few minutes to make an entry. Iraq is stuck in a difficult position. Even as the inspectors prepare to go in [news.bbc.co.uk] Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz was on the teevee this morning saying how they [Iraq] will go along with the resolution but that that doesn’t stop the agression from the US. I have to broadly agree with that, I think. It doesn’t seem to make much difference what happens, the underlying message still seems to be that Iraq (Saddam) is bad and must be attacked. And I’m disturbed by that a bit, really.

Meanwhile back on home soil, three people have been charged under the terrorism act [news.bbc.co.uk] but noone seems to know exactly why. The government are denying that they were planning to release gas onto the tube network. It’s all most odd.

Sorry for the lack of bloggage this week. Normal service will resume next friday. In the mean time I will produce a soup picture for today, but Things have gotten in the way of doing a proper update.

So I’ll see you next week!

The UK Census website is finally up [www.census.pro.gov.uk] after a long, long time where the site was taken down because the demand for it was just silly, it’s returned in some kind of test form (for a while I guess.) I’ve not used it yet because it’s 9-5.

Weekend

Friday, November 15th, 2002

Finally, the end of another week arrives. There’s no friday five today, and there is an alternative but it’s basically full of swearing, which I don’t fancy using this week to be honest. I’m saying "to be honest" and "to be fair" far too much lately. It’s starting to bug me a bit.

Return

As promised, I return, and bring you another picture of the tree! It was completely mad, I woke up the next day, and the tree was so big I could hardly move in my bedroom! Well, not really, but look :

huge tree

It’s huge!

If you can get over the madness of the tree, then take a look at the reg story on Easyart.com’s challenge to Stelio’s Easy chain [www.theregister.co.uk]. Now, I don’t mind the Easy chain with it’s easy planes and such, but it is a bit much when they start going against smaller firms just because they have the word "Easy" in their name. I hope the little guy wins the case, to be honest.

Of course today’s big news is that the UK is now being protected against fires by 25 year old army machines [news.bbc.co.uk] as the fire fighters go on their first strike for years and years in the hope of a 40% pay rise.
