Mr Mist’s Blog

It’s very sensible

Archive for July, 2002

Hi Folks

Thursday, July 25th, 2002

Sorry about the lack of update yesterday, and the poor title today. Yesterday was due to my failure to remember the blog password, and the poor title today is due to my failure to have an imagination today. Still, I’ll continue with the stuff to blog about..

We’re all going to die [news.bbc.co.uk] in 2019 when a huge asteroid known as 2002 NT7 hits the earth. Actually the odds of this are apparently less than being crushed by a Llama, but still, we should all worry and attempt to have as much sex as possible before then. (Yes, feel free to form an orderly queue at my door ladies.)

Various people say that the UK is not prepared for a major terrorist incident [news.bbc.co.uk]. Mr Blair says we are though, so I think that means that everything is ok.

Mr Blair also says that military action against Iraq is not already on the cards [news.bbc.co.uk]. This may of course change later. I’m not sure what we’d have to gain from an attack to be honest.

Everquest players have no luck [news.bbc.co.uk], or at least, no chance of getting high level quests, thanks to too many players and not enough rare monsters to kill. Heh. I’m so glad I don’t do that, I’d *love* to be sat around for (real) days waiting for an (unreal) dragon, only to have someone else slay it…

And finally, there’s a story about some cannabis cafe in Stockport [news.bbc.co.uk]. So if you have a hanckering to smoke the weed in a cafe right now, you can head down there. With two forms of photo ID.

Some girl trapped her lip in a scanner trying to scan her face [news.bbc.co.uk]. Someone really should explain digital cameras to her.

Heh

Were you looking forward to seeing Lucky Star [www.luckyluckystar.com] that’s been trailered on TV lately? Well, look forward no longer, for tis a car advert, and not a film at all… [www.ananova.com]. Crafty Mercedes Benz being quite clever, really.

Digital Memories

Monday, July 22nd, 2002

There’s quite an interesting little article on BBC News Interactive about storage of digital photos [news.bbc.co.uk]. Essentially it’s saying that today’s digital camera revolution could be bad news for the future, as it will not leave behind the kind of historic memory aids that are "real" photos. Digital photos are rarely printed, and because of the rate of technological change it is difficult to retrieve electronically stored images even as little as ten years after they were comitted to their storage medium. This is not good. Maybe we need to be encouraged into printing out (your best) digital pics…

Today’s Wierdness

Monday, July 22nd, 2002

Today’s find (by Mr Bobs) is this thing [www.sodaplay.com]. I’m not sure entirely what it is, but you can make things that fly or wriggle. Look at some of the saved files for examples of what can be done. I didn’t manage anything like that. Wow.

My news item for today is that Todd Carty, recently axed Eastender’s actor is to go back to Grange Hill [news.bbc.co.uk] after some twenty years away from the series. For some reason I found this highly amusing. Not quite the normal level of news that I talk about on here, but, hey, I fancy a light day…
